National Healthy School Standard
Marlow Church of England Infant School has been awarded Healthy Schools Accreditation in all eight key areas. We are the first infant school in the county to achieve this recognition. Schools awarded with this status have been recognised as helping pupils to do their best and build on their achievements, developing the whole child. It is committed to on-going improvements and development. It promotes physical and emotional health by providing accessible and elevant information and equipping pupils with the skills and attitudes to make informed decisions about their health. A healthy school understands the importance of investing in health to assist in the proccess of raising levels of pupil achievement and improving standards. It also recognises the need to provide both a physical and social environment that is conductive to learning.
Church Links
Marlow Church of England Infant School has strong links with All Saints Church in Marlow, see www.allsaintsmarlow.org/ for more information. Each year, the children go to the Church for several different events. These include our Christmas and Easter services, a mock wedding or baptism (on a rolling programme). We also take part in the "Praise in the Park," event with other Church Schools in the area. Year 1 children visit the church each year, when studying their topic of Special Places.

Holy Trinity Junior School

The headteachers meet regularly and take assembly in each others' schools. The teachers responsible for the special needs pupils meet to discuss strategies and resource management. The two schools also hold joint meetings for parents wanting to start their children in Reception at Marlow C of E Infant School and for those whose children were transferring to Holy Trinity after Year 2. The governing bodies also hold a joint meeting each year to discuss liaison and common issues.

School Travel Plan Team
The School Travel Plan Team (STP Team) works closely with Bucks County Council's Safer Routes to School Team. Our overall aim is to raise awareness of walking to school, to improve health and reduce traffic congestion in the mornings.

We do this via several schemes which include:
  1. Regular Walk to School Weeks (the next one is the week commencing 6th March) and National Walk to School Week (week commencing 22nd May). Each child who walks gets a sticker to add to a class poster. The children in the class with the most stickers at the end of the week each get a traffic lights lollipop.
  2. Competitions such as designing a Healthy Journeys poster; designing a poster for the Walk to School Weeks and designing a logo for the STP team to use on all our material.
  3. Travel Surveys; we send out an annual travel survey to all parents to assess views and identify needs.
  4. Footsteps Training; we train all Year 2 students in the Autumn term in road safety.
  5. The Why Walk? leaflet is sent to all parents highlighting the benefits of walking to school.
  6. Submitting bids to Bucks CC for grants to improve safety within the school grounds (e.g. wider footpaths, rearranging the Big Gate pick up system) and for traffic calming measurers near the school.
